Backyard Party Ideas: When You're Looking For A Reason
/As the woes of the pandemic appear to be getting further in the rear-view and society is returning to what it was once before, you may be feeling the urge to have a gathering. If you haven’t a good idea as to what kind of party you want to put on, here’s a few ideas:
POOL PARTY
Don’t let the fact that summer is short deter you from throwing a great pool party! All you need for this party to be a success is some hot dogs, chips, beverages, a few pool noodles, and some coverage or shelter for the folks who want to cool off in shade. What are you waiting for? Go start writing your guest list! Make a Facebook event! You’re having a pool party this weekend.
BARBECUE
Who doesn’t love a good barbecue? There’s nothing more distracting than driving along with the windows down and catch a whiff of someone exercising their smoker. Be the envy of your neighbors. Fire up the barbie and throw on some ribs and and give your family and friends a holler… and don’t forget corn. Never forget the corn (and keep the shucks on).
THEME PARTY
Theme parties are always so much fun. If you have a lot of single friends, have a singles mixer. If you have a friend group that is obsessed with a certain show, have a party with the theme of that show. Murder Mystery Parties take a little bit more preparation but are such a blast. The Great Gatsby theme is a classic. Whatever theme you decide to have, make sure you have cocktail tables for the mixers!
TEA-PARTY
Tea parties are so much fun and could be the perfect party for you to throw! The cool thing about tea parties is they are so easy to make look fabulous. Get a tent with tables and garden chairs, a few tasteful pieces of china, white and pastel decorations and make a lot of different finger foods. Veggie platters, hummus, crackers, and little sandwiches are a great place to start. Then, obviously there’s the tea. You can choose to make a bunch of different teas, or just have one simple tea to serve. If you don’t have any fancy tea china, you can pick up some affordable, yet adorable, dinnerware from Target, Walmart, or Kohls Have your friends dress up in fancy and get ready to have a great time!
BRUNCH
Similar to having a tea party, having brunch is great for backyards that have space for a tent and furniture for guests to sit and enjoy food and conversation. And who doesn’t love brunch?! Maybe you’ll serve a light salad and turkey sandwiches or maybe you’ll have pancakes and shrimp cocktail. Or maybe you’ll just invite everyone over for chicken and waffles after church on Sunday. Regardless, your family and friends will have a great time and will surely be complimenting your fabulous new backyard.
BIRTHDAY PARTY
Okay, okay, this one is obvious, but hear us out. Many people have birthday parties inside, but you’re not going to do that this year. This year you want to keep the party outdoors and the house clean. Whether you’re having a kids birthday party where you decorate your backyard like a Frozen wonderland, or if you’re having a sophisticated casino themed party for your 50th birthday – have it outside instead of inside!
HOLIDAY PARTY
There is always time to throw a holiday party. Holiday parties are the best because it gives you something awesome to celebrate while bringing your family and friends together and they happen every month. It gets cold up here quick so the holiday selection for backyard parties is shorter, but there are still plenty to celebrate!
